January 4, 2024 – Garmin has announced another step toward the end of technical support for its popular, legacy GNS 430/530 and related series products effective immediately. In short, displays for these units will no longer be repairable. Now may be the time to modernize your NAV-COM-GPS.

If you own a Garmin GNS series or GPS400/500 series product, you’ll want to review this brief Garmin Customer Memo.

Today’s news is an important milestone in the lifecycle of this extraordinarily popular line of products.  It is another step taken since the March 2020 news, when Garmin announced it would no longer provide Wide Area Augmentation System (WAAS) upgrades for the venerable GNS 430/530 series of products, and the March 2023 news, when Garmin signaled expectations to begin winding down support for the product line in 2024.

This is a great time to consider upgrading to a more modern GPS navigator from Garmin or perhaps from Avidyne.  Garmin offers a selection of upgrade paths from the GNS/GPS series.  The Avidyne IFD is essentially a slide-in replacement for GNS430/530 units.

Garmin also has announced an extension of its Direct-to-Savings Upgrade offer.
